What Else Do You Need When Converting Your Cooker to LPG? (Complete Setup Checklist)

When customers shop for an LPG conversion kit, they often focus only on the burner injectors — but that’s just one part of setting up a cooker safely and correctly for LPG.

Depending on your cooker and installation, you may also need an LPG regulator, bottle adaptor, cooker hose, stability chain, or compression fittings. This guide explains everything you need so you can complete your installation the first time, without delays or extra costs.

1. LPG Regulator — The Most Commonly Forgotten Item

Many customers already have a regulator, but not all regulators are suitable for powering a cooker. You may need a new one if:

  • You moved into a new property
  • Your existing regulator was used for a BBQ/patio heater
  • You are switching from butane to propane
  • Your regulator is older than 5 years
  • You are using a caravan, boat or off-grid setup

Browse regulators here: LPG Regulators

Upsell Tip: If you order a regulator at the same time as your conversion kit, you ensure full compatibility and avoid failed installations.

2. Gas Bottle Adaptors — Required More Often Than You Think

Different bottle brands (Calor, Flogas, BP) and international cylinder types use different valve fittings. If the regulator doesn’t match the bottle, you’ll need an adaptor.

Find adaptors here: Gas Bottle Adaptors

3. Cooker Hose — Required for Most Installations

Many cookers need a replacement hose when converting to LPG because:

  • Some hoses are natural-gas-only
  • Older hoses may be expired
  • Different cooker models require different lengths & fittings
  • LPG appliances must use LPG-rated hoses

Shop hoses here: LPG Cooker Hoses

Recommended Add-On: Replace the hose if it is older than 5 years or if you are installing a cooker in a new location.

4. Stability Chain / Anti-Tilt Device — A Must for Freestanding Cookers

All freestanding and range cookers must be secured using a stability chain or bracket — it is a legal requirement for safety.

These are included in our full installation kits, or can be purchased separately here: Stability Chains & Cooker Safety Accessories

5. Compression Fittings — Needed for Pipe Adjustments

Your installer may need compression fittings if the gas pipe requires extending or re-routing. These may include:

  • Elbows
  • Straight connectors
  • Reducers
  • Brackets or wall plates

Find them here: Gas Compression Fittings

6. Full Cooker Conversion Kits — Everything You Need in One Box

Your cooker conversion kit must match your specific brand and model to ensure the injector sizes are correct. We supply kits that include:

  • Brand-specific LPG injectors
  • Hose
  • Regulator
  • Stability chain
